Organizing an event

The Gatineau Health Foundation helps fund the achievements and development of the ‘‘CSSS de Gatineau’’ through the support of the whole community. The commitment of more than 64,000 donors, and the holding of various public and commercial events, have raised more than $3 million each year to help the ‘‘CSSS de Gatineau’’ pay for medical equipment and health programs.

Organizing a Fundraiser

Thank you for choosing the Gatineau Health Foundation as your event’s beneficiary. Your initiative will make a difference to the quality of health care in our community.

WHAT TO DO

To submit your project to the Gatineau Health Foundation, complete the online “Activity Description” form. The Activities and Events Coordinator will contact you at the earliest opportunity.

If you have questions, please feel free to contact Benoit Brunet, Activities and Events Coordinator, by telephone at 819-966-6108 or by e-mail at benoit_brunet@ssss.gouv.qc.ca.

PRACTICAL TIPS

  • Determine an appropriate date. Choose a date that is suitable both for committee members and the people you wish to attract at your event.
  • Identify a clear financial objective. Ensure your goal is realistic and easy to measure.
  • Prepare a budget. The fewer expenses you have, the more funds you can generate.
  • Identify your audience. Who is your activity for? Who can it appeal to? Who can take part?
  • Set up an Organizing Committee. The key to success is to surround yourself with enthusiastic, available and congenial people!
  • In accordance with Canada Revenue Agency rules, the Foundation may issue tax receipts to event donors. However, organizers must ensure the event’s fiscal parameters are approved in advance.
  • The Foundation is not responsible for commitments made by your fundraising activity’s Organizing Committee.
  • The Foundation reserves the right to withdraw support for the project if, for sound reasons, it does not approve of the way its name and image are used.
  • The Organizing Committee shall indemnify and save harmless the Gatineau Health Foundation from any liability regarding the fundraising event and, where applicable, assume responsibility for any resulting legal proceedings.
  • Your organization must ensure the Foundation approves all advertising and promotional material for the event, as well as the use of its logo.
  • The event’s proceeds, its financial statement, and information on the issuance of tax receipts must be submitted to The Gatineau Health Foundation within 30 days after the event.
