“Mérite de la philanthropie” award

The ‘’Mérite de la philanthropie’’ recognizes the exceptional contribution of individuals or organizations to the development of health services in Outaouais. Created in 1996, this award is given out each year.

2014 Edition – Individual Category

MR. MAURICE MAROIS

Mr. Maurice Marois has supported the Foundation since 1996, both personally and through his respected Outaouais business. He has taken part in various public events over the years, whether by buying tickets or supporting people who faced challenges for the benefit of the Foundation. In 2003 he made his first important gesture, with a $50,000 donation (pledged over five years) in support of the “pour un hôpital en santé !” campaign. In 2013, to help make a difference and improve health care in the ‘’CSSS de Gatineau’’ hospitals, Mr. Marois made an extraordinary donation of $500,000 to the Foundation. Describing himself as a fortunate man who has been spoiled by life, this generous individual wished to achieve two things: 1) to give back to the people of his community, who had always supported his business; and 2) to thank the ‘’CSSS de Gatineau’’ doctors, who had always taken good care of him. This donation will allow him to leave a lasting memory with the dedication of the Hull Hospital emergency wing. Thank you for your exceptional commitment, Mr. Marois!

BROOKFIELD RENEWABLE ENERGY

Brookfield Renewable Energy began its collaboration with the Foundation in 2003, with an exceptional donation of $100,000 (pledged over a five-year period) for the “pour un hôpital en santé !” campaign. In 2009, it made a $15,000 donation to buy pediatric equipment at the time of the H1N1 pandemic. Its support for the Foundation has since taken the form of sponsorships for Les Rêves de Monique, a fundraising event in support of women with cancer:

  • $1,000 in 2011
  • $10,000 in 2012
  • $150,000 in 2013

The sponsorship money comes from the firm’s annual golf tournament, where the company matches every dollar generated by the tournament with a dollar of its own. Thank you for your support!
