Gatineau, December 19, 2013 – Effective January 1, 2014, the Fondation du CSSS de Gatineau will change its name to Fondation Santé Gatineau (Gatineau Health Foundation).
We are adopting this change to give our organization a simple identity that is easy to communicate. When the ‘‘CSSS de Gatineau’’ was founded in 2007, the Foundation included the acronym “CSSS” in its name to reflect the new reality. Six years later the acronym is still little known among local residents, which limits the Foundation’s position and recognition in the community.
By adding the term “health” to its name, the Foundation opted for simplicity and clarity. Its signature remains the same, but with the term “CSSS” replaced by the word “health”. For the general population, the term “health” is broadly defined and can encompass physical health, mental health or social services – which perfectly fits the mandate of our sole beneficiary, ‘‘CSSS de Gatineau’’.
With a new name that better expresses what we are, we will be better positioned to act as a link between ‘‘CSSS de Gatineau’’ and members of the community who wish to support the overall cause of health.
In the period leading up to this change, the Foundation’s mission remains the same: “to solicit funds to help the ‘‘CSSS de Gatineau’’ achieve its goal of promoting the health and well-being of members of the community it serves.”
