Breast Tomosynthesis

Currently at the CISSS de l’Outaouais, breast cancer screening and diagnosis rely on a two-dimensional radiological examination technique known as mammography. These past few years, a new technology called breast tomosynthesis has become available. In tomosynthesis, a mobile X-ray tube is used to take a series of pictures and generate a three-dimensional image of the mammary gland.

In particular, this new method would give us the capacity for more thorough examinations of at-risk women, as well as those with denser breasts. Currently, CISSS establishments in the Outaouais region only have access to a limited number of tomosynthesis units.

To remedy this, we would like to acquire an additional unit for the Gatineau Hospital and another for the Hull Hospital.

MAKE A DIFFERENCE HERE AT HOME

These new devices would:

Increase accessibility for Outaouais patients;

Reduce breast examination waiting times;

Facilitate detection of breast cancer thanks to 3D images;

Decrease call backs caused by false positive results, which require additional tests;

Minimize the psychological impact linked to additional tests for low-risk patients.

The CISSS de l’Outaouais’s establishments urgently require several small pieces of equipment that are essential to the performance of recurring tasks carried out by care professionals

Upgrading the Diamic software

To help the technical staff and reduce waiting time for patients, the CISSS de l’Outaouais must upgrade the existing software to add specialized modules for specimen traceability, macroscopy assistance, telepathology and management.

Blood Sample Analyzers

Each year, the Gatineau and Hull hospitals’ laboratories perform more than 70,000 analytical procedures on blood products to determine blood groups, verify the presence of antibodies, ensure pregnancy follow-ups, and more.

Small Equipment in Hospitals and CLSC

The CISSS de l’Outaouais’ establishments are in need of several small pieces of equipment that are essential to the performance of recurring tasks by care professionals.
