In order to provide better pediatric services at the Gatineau Hospital, the newly upgraded pediatric unit will soon start to offer intermediate care to the Outaouais population. As it stands, families often have to be redirected to other specialized pediatric care facilities outside the region for certain types of care and interventions. These relocations, with all the travel and related costs they incur, can cause a great deal of stress for families. In collaboration with the Daniel Brière Foundation, we contributed to redesigning the work space, adding three intermediate care beds and acquiring new specialized equipment. The first two phases of the project were completed this year, and work is continuing to complete this major undertaking.
