Fall campaign – All donations will be matched

Contribute to the Fall campaign before December 31st and your donation will be matched.

Your gift will allow the CISSS de l’Outaouais to achieve two major projects :

As Head of the Cancer Department of the CISSS de l’Outaouais, I would like to let you know about an important project that could improve the quality of care for cancer patients undergoing radiotherapy treatment in our region.

The cancer department currently has 3 linear accelerators to carry out radiotherapy cancer treatments. These devices can accommodate a wide range of accessories to treat different types of cancer on different parts of the body. For instance, positioning aids are crucial tools that can help patients who need to adopt very specific postures and remain motionless throughout their radiotherapy treatment. Our team would like to acquire new positioning aids in order to add new techniques to its radiotherapy treatments against cancer.

Rest assured that your contribution will have a tangible impact for the people in our region. Every year, a considerable number of patients need to be redirected to other treatment centres to receive care. Thanks to this acquisition project, these patients will be able to receive their radiotherapy treatment right here at the Gatineau Cancer Centre.

This project cannot go forward in a timely manner without the contribution of generous donors like you. Please consider contributing generously to this campaign.

« When it comes to healthcare, our region is facing great needs. By supporting the Gatineau Health Foundation, we can change things. My business partner and I will MATCH all donations raised through this project for the Cancer Department, up to a maximum of $100,000. Be generous! Together, we can make a huge difference » Paul-André Charbonneau

Since 2000, I have been practising psychiatry at Pierre- Janet Hospital, which offers a wide range of services including early childhood assessment services, specialized care for adults and care for the elderly. In addition, Pierre-Janet is home to a great number of beneficiaries with chronic illnesses.

My colleagues and I want to make this environment a healthy living space for our patients, as part of our efforts to improve their well-being. Unfortunately, the Hospital’s
exterior courtyard offers very limited possibilities for users. In the wake of the facility’s reconstruction, our outdated outdoor amenities — some of which have been downright unusable for years — are in dire need of improvement and development.

This is why we want to develop an outdoor space that will include a therapeutic walking path, a multi-sport field and a playground. Various spaces will be set up all along the walking path, each offering a different type of physical activity or event. These facilities will play an important role in providing a positive care and rehabilitation environment
for the Hospital’s patients, with hospitalizations lasting approximately 50 days on average.

I feel very strongly about this project, since it will provide our staff with precious new tools and bolster our patients’ engagement, health and well-being. A good living environment is just as essential as medical or pharmacological treatment and healthy lifestyle habits
for achieving wellness in patients suffering from severe and persistent mental illness.

I am deeply convinced that we can carry out this project. That is why, in addition to asking for your contribution, I am offering to match your donation. I will DOUBLE the donations raised through this campaign, up to a maximum of $100,000.
