The Philanthropy Award recognizes an individual or organization’s exceptional contribution to the development of our region’s healthcare services. This year, the Award was presented to the Daniel Brière Foundation, whose mission is to support organizations working with sick children.
A Gatineau native, Daniel Brière went on to become a star player for the Philadelphia Flyers, the Colorado Avalanche and the Montréal Canadiens. Even during his tenure wearing his famous jersey number 48, Brière always placed a great importance on his community’s health, especially when it came to sick children here in the Outaouais region.
At its most recent golf tournament, held late last summer, his foundation pledged $50,000 in support to the Gatineau Health Foundation. This generous amount brought the Daniel Brière Foundation over the $500,000 mark in donations to our organization.
